My wife and I get Netflix DVDs in the mail all the time, yes I don’t have streaming still stuck in the stone age, and we got a disc in that started a new TV series we wanted to watch.  So I go to put it in and we watch the first episode…and it was terrible.  Not just me not liking it, but the content was terrible and something that my wife and I don’t need to consume.  Consuming ungodly things is what can destroy you, it’s a way that satan can change your mind and your heart.  1 John 2:15-17 fits in here, Do not love the world or the things in the world.  If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world-the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions-is not from the Father but is from the world.  And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

You may be sitting there thinking, “well I watch that stuff but I don’t believe it, or I don’t do what they do, whether it be drinking, having unmarried sex, or promoting gay relations.”  It doesn’t matter if you partake in these things or not, Romans 14:23 If you do anything you believe is not right, and do it anyways, you are sinning.  And if you are a true believer and follower of Jesus Christ, then you should not be okay with these things.  So much of our media, our TVs, our radios, they are filled with unholy things and that is what people hear more than what they need to hear, which is the message of God.

I watched this video that talked about having two masters, it just doesn’t work, you will love one and hate the other, so which one do you love and hate, The world or God?  But how can we sit and watch and listen to things that take the name of Jesus in vain, that strongly portrays things and actions that we feel so strongly against.  In the video he talks about how we let something so vulgar serve as our entertainment, we consume ourselves with these things and we still claim to love Him with our whole hearts.  Don’t give in to the world, don’t love the world and hate God…LOVE GOD AND HATE THE WORLD!
