Choices:  The Good, The Bad, or Nothing

January 19, 2015

When it comes to making choices, we can either make one of three decisions.  The good choice, the bad choice, and we can choose not to pick anything.  Most people don’t think about their choice, sometimes I do, but for the most part the thinking issue kind of slips away.  Now of course, after we do whatever, and we didn’t think about it we are going to regret doing that thing.  Maybe we did it in a hurry, maybe we were being to lazy and wanted to call it quits, who knows.  Anything you do, do it to the best of your ability, do it representing who you are and show the people around you how you operate and act.  However, most importantly you need to let the Lord shine through you and let people see and taste a glimpse of God, maybe for the first time in their life.  God works in very mysterious ways, and God definitely works through the people who follow Him and have given their lives to Him.

Enter by the narrow gate.  For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.  For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.  Matthew 7:13-14

So why don’t we sit back and talk to God when decisions come up.  Usually when its a big or important decision give God a chance to talk to you and give Him time to let you know what is best.  The number one thing I can think of is buying a car.  People go car shopping and when do they buy a car?  The very same day they started looking.  Go home and pray to God, God will touch your heart and let you know what He wants.  Most of the time we don’t do that because we are afraid God might say something we disagree with and we want things to happen the way we want them to.  Don’t be selfish, especially towards God, God provides for us each and everyday, let him take control of your life and also His money that He is letting you manage right now.

On a different idea of choices, this comes from a TV show I watch, called How I Met Your Mother.  One of my favorite episodes is based purely on choice, and it talks about how the choices we make can greatly effect the outcome later in that day or some time in the near future.  During this episode and many others they refer to the “universe” and in my mind the “universe” is God.  God is the one in control and He knows what is going on.  Back to the episode though, the title is Right Place Right Time and that is, again, what this episode is based on.  The main character arriving in the place that the “universe” laid out for him.  Stop and think about that, because that happens in all of our lives, we may not realize it, but God puts us in the right place at the right time.  Don’t think its a coincidence or the “universe,” because its God.
