Are you standing up for what you believe in?

There has been some media in the past week or two involving same-sex marriage and the issuing of a marriage license.  I’m going to go ahead and throw my two cents in and then I will lay out some biblical references for us to look at.  First, homosexuality is wrong, it’s a sin, sure you have the right to do what you want, but anyone who is living in open sin is NOT for God and God is NOT with them.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God?  Do not be deceived:  neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the Kingdom of God.  And such were some of you.  But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

I don’t know if you caught that, but it plainly says that these types of people WILL NOT inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.  Are we going to be perfect after we find Christ and ask Him to save us? No.  But what will happen, or should happen if you are truly saved, is that the things that disgust God will also disgust you and you repent and turn completely away from these things and from that lifestyle that you once knew.

Looking back at the title, are you standing up for what you believe in?  If you are a true Christian, and I mean a true follower of Christ, are you acting and living a life that reflects Christ?  Most of us would like to yes, but what if we were put in the situation that this lady that refused the marriage license was put in.  What if that was us, would we give in and let sin win?  Would we go to jail for Christ?  Would we be openly mocked and put on the spot for Christ?  If you don’t know the story I am referencing, Google Kim Davis, and you will find plenty of links.

But my prayer every day, as should be the prayers of any and everyone else claiming to be true followers of Christ, is that I do stand out in this messed up world.  I don’t want to fit in to this normal society, I want to be the one that people wonder what is wrong with that guy.  Kim Davis made an awesome statement by what she didn’t do and then not giving in to the people.  She stood up for what she felt was right and for what she believes based on the Bible.

2 Timothy 3:12 Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

Isaiah 58:1 Cry aloud; do not hold back; lift up your voice like a trumpet; declare to my people their transgression.
