What change? I don’t see any change!

Just yesterday, I was driving to work. Now God has to talk fast, because my drive to work is like three minutes. But seriously, this co-worker came to my mind, her daughter might have broken her elbow, but that might not even be the worst part. When they took in her in for X-rays, she had carved into her arm terms like “loser,” therefore the doctor that was seeing her said she needs therapy for depression.

Now typically when bad things happen in someone’s life, religious or not, they say “keep me in your prayers.” Now I’d be reluctant to say that she knows Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. (Matthew 7:16-18) I say this to reflect on my life and onto the life of anyone who says “I follow Christ.”

So what change does Christ bring about in our life when we receive Him? The verse that I’m always drawn too, is this one:

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17

Now don’t miss those important statement filled words. IS… HAS… It’s not a suggestion, it’s not up for debate. What Paul is saying plain and simple, if we have Christ we will be different.

But what does that change look like? What are or should the people around us see if we have Christ in our lives? Before Paul mentions the verse above, he paints a picture of what that “new creation” looks like.

If we are “out of our mind,” as some say, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that One died for all, and therefore all died. And He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again. 2 Corinthians 5:13-15

There will and has to be change in our life, I think we can all agree on that. But I know my biggest problem most of the time, is that I over think things. Based on the verses above, 1) think like Christ and like out His Word, 2) allow God to push you to where He needs you to go, and 3) realize that we are DEAD, it’s no longer about me and what I want, but that God is in charge and has a plan and purpose for my life.

Lord my prayer for myself and for all other followers of You, is that in our day to day life, people can look at us, they can hear us, they can interact with us, and have no doubt in there mind that we belong to YOU!
