Leviticus Chapter 26

I was driving to work the other day, I’ve been listening to the Bible on my drives, and I came to the end of Leviticus, chapter 26 to be exact. This chapter talks about the things or rewards that God will shower on us for our obedience. But is also talks about what He will do for disobedience.

When I read through these verses again, the three main verses that I that mattered most were these…

1 “ ‘Do not make idols or set up an image or a sacred stone for yourselves, and do not place a carved stone in your land to bow down before it. I am the Lord your God.2 “ ‘Observe my Sabbaths and have reverence for my sanctuary. I am the Lord.3 “ ‘If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, (Leviticus 26:1-3 | NIV)

Really look at those verses, and then place the word “then” at the end. “If you follow My decrees and are careful to obey my commands, then…

How do we look at this and apply this to our life now days?

1) Do not make idols… Don’t have ANYTHING that takes the place of God. God is a jealous God, you can’t serve two masters because you’ll hate one and love the other, and the greatest commandment is to love (obey) the Lord your God.

2) Observe my Sabbaths… Having a relationship with Christ, building and cultivating this relationship so that you can be used by God in your daily life.

God is a God of love and He wants to freely give, but we can clearly see their are guidelines, expectations, that we are to follow. Nothing unreasonable, but it shows our true heart and our true focus when we choose something over another.

But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, (Joshua 24:15a | NIV)
