Notes from the Sermon

So I pulled this paper from my nightstand the other night, and for some reason this is a past note that I have held on to. You know, typically in church bulletins they have a section for notes, and this particular Sunday I wrote something down. The two thoughts I jotted down were: 1) In my life, what do I not have in line? What isn’t Christ-like in my life? & 2) If everyone was doing their part with the same commitment I have, where would our church be?

Just ponder that for a minute, what do you not have in line? What part of your life doesn’t say “Image of Christ?” Romans 12:2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 8:29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. Our body, our mind, our heart, our spirit, they are no longer ours, but they belong to Christ who lives in us, we have to believe and live that way with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Thinking about the second point, where would the church be (or even the world) if every Follower of Christ were acting and living in the same way that you are? So when I first heard Pastor Chadd say this, I remember that it hit me pretty hard, this is back from April 17, 2016, so for me to remember that, you know that it would’ve had to have been heavy. But honestly, are you and I striving to give God 100% of our day? Giving Him EVERYTHING no matter what the cost, no matter what the sacrifice. Matthew 22:37 Jesus replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.” 1 Thessalonians 4:1, 7 Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God, as we have taught you. You live this way already, and we encourage you to do so even more. God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives. Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.

God demands our all, He doesn’t take a back seat, and He won’t settle for a majority percentage, if you can’t or won’t give God 100% of your life, He doesn’t want any of it. Revelation 3:15-16 “I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth! God is worth giving every ounce of your life to, make that decision today!
