Let’s stop and think for a minute about that phrase. Would we (myself included) do the same things we do now if Jesus were here?
Now when I say here, I’m talking about in the physical flesh like in the New Testament with the disciples. Because it seems like so many times the presence of someone, physically, can cause us to go a different direction or completely stop what we were going to do.
For a child, we knew when we did right or wrong, and when our parents came walking around the corner or into our room, we would quickly clean up or hide the broken item. Or maybe, the pastor from your church is coming over to your house and you have to clean up and put away the bad movies, the bad magazines, the liquor, or whatever you may struggle with that is sinful.
Now most of you are going to understand where I’m coming from and that the two examples can be related to your life or someone you might know. Now…icebreaker time, if you are a Follower of Christ, then the Bible tells us that we have received the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38). Now to clarify, God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit, are all Three-in-One. He is always with us, He will always see what we do, so why is it that we care more about the approval of man than obeying and pleasing our Father (Galatians 1:10)?
So stop and take a minute and reflect on this idea: “Would I do _______ if Jesus was here?”
*what movies and shows we watch
*what music we listen to
*what we eat and how much we eat
*what we wear
*what we read and what we look at
*how we spend our spare time
*where we work
*who we hangout with
*where we visit
*what kind of language we use
*how we spend our money
Again…myself included, we are so quick to make our lives fake and presentable to the people around and yet we neglect the idea of pleasing our Heavenly Father who loves us more than anyone in the world. The same Father who came to earth to die a very brutal death for us. The Bible says that at our worst (Romans 5:8) while we were still sinners, He died for us. He then rose again from the grave and conquered death. Why would you and I, if we claim to be Followers of Christ, not want to obey Him? We should want to do everything in our power and through the power of the Holy Spirit to make our lives reflect Christ. Not for our glory…but for His!

Don’t put off Salvation…and don’t say you’ll wait till tomorrow (Proverbs 27:1).
