We are up to chapter nine in Proverbs now, and what this chapter focuses on is God, Wisdom, inviting us to come and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Verse 1-5 talks about Him preparing the table for us to come and dine with Him and how He will send servants to invite us. Now the servants that He is talking about here are Christians. Anyone that claims to be a born again child of God is called to go out and reach the lost sinners of this world. Mark 16:15 says, And Jesus said to them, “Go into all of the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”
If we continue in Proverbs, verse 6 says, Leave your simple ways behind, and begin to live; learn to use good judgement. We haven’t truly lived until we have the love and forgiveness of God in us. Once we start truly living and we see how great He is, why wouldn’t you want to go out and tell the world what the power of the Lord can do for you. So the other day I was walking into work and started talking to someone I work with, and it seemed as though they were having a bad day, needless to say they hate their job. So many people now days hate their job but in my mind I am thinking, why? Because the way you should think about your job is it being your battlefield that God put you in, the place where God has put you to work, not just for money, but for Him. To reach the lost people around you, God doesn’t make mistakes, God has you where He wants you for a particular reason. Some of the people you are around have never heard of Jesus and about what He can do for them, you may be the only person that will ever have that opportunity to talk to them.
I have shared what God has said about not sharing before, that we need to warn people about death and hell, and if we fail to do so and they die in their sin God will hold you responsible for their death, but if you tell them and they refuse to repent then they will die in their sins but you have obeyed God so you saved yourself. (Ezekiel 3:16-19) Proverbs verse 7-9 talks about what responses you may get, Anyone who rebukes a mocker will get an insult in return. Anyone who corrects the wicked will get hurt. So don’t bother correcting mockers; they will only hate you. But correct the wise, and they will love you. Instruct the wise, and they will be even wiser. Teach the righteous, and they will learn even more. So don’t waste your time arguing with fools who have no desire to listen or change.
Verse 10 says this, Fear of the Lord is the foundation of Wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgement. You don’t have a foundation without fearing he Lord, and you can’t truly fear the Lord if you aren’t willing to repent and turn away from the sin that is keeping you from God. I watched a great video that truly opened my eyes to how “Christians” now days think. That we have forgiveness in Christ, which is very true, but that doesn’t give you the right to keep doing and going back to the same sin that you asked for forgiveness from. The definition for repent – feel or express sincere regret or remorse about one’s wrongdoing or sin. You truly can not have sincere regret or remorse for something that you can go back to so easily. We as Christians need to truly fear the Lord and create our foundation so we can go out to all of the world and share the love of Christ.
