Driving home from the store this evening, after a day of calls, conversations, and other job related endeavors, I had this thought come across my mind.
“I need to talk to myself like a preacher!” What does that mean? Well, when you go into the pastors office. Take a seat, and then you insert the question… waiting for the response that you probably already know is coming, just don’t want to hear it… we are hoping for a different response, we hope for a different answer.
That’s what happened in my car ride home. This statement came to my mind: “Ryan, it sounds like you are too concerned with pursuing a new career, that you have slowed down or stopped in your pursuit of Me (God).”
How many times, how many situations, would we be better off if we would stop… and preach to ourselves? Preach to ourselves and tell ourselves what we already know but just don’t want to hear?
John 6:60 says this, On hearing it, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?” How does this apply to your personal life? For me, it’s a hard teaching to stop, pray, wait, and have faith that God will provide. It’s not that I don’t think He will, I know He will, but again… it’s on God’s timing and not our own.
